1. Tentmaking in a Globalised World

Globalisation has created many new opportunities for us to make a strategic contribution to mission. What are those opportunities? What are the advantages and disadvantages of different tentmaking strategies? How do we ensure such approaches. This Specialist Seminar will address these questions and help participants to learn how to be an effective tentmaker in this globalised world.

2. Business and Missions in the Marketplace

Christian business people and professionals can play a vital role in the marketplace. This Specialist Seminar will consider some new dynamics in the context of 21st century urban missions.

3. Social Enterprise Development

Christian professionals can make significant contributions using their experience and expertise to develop social enterprises which can help create jobs and address specific socio-economic and developmental needs. This Specialist Seminar explores how Social Enterprises can work in the Asian contexts to further Kingdom goals. Learn about the models, networking and critical success factors.

4. HIV/AIDS – Christian Response in Asia

In many parts of Asia, HIV/AIDS is a serious health problem. How can Asian Christians respond with loving concern to this health crisis and serve communities affected by HIV/AIDS? This Specialist Seminar will provide an overview and explore Christian response to the marginalised in Asia and in Singapore in HIV and related diseases.

5. Strategic Church Mission Mobilisation

Every Christian can participate in the Great Commission and discover the joy of revealing God’s love across the street or around the world. How can local churches mobilise their members for missions and ministries? This Specialist Seminar shares the strategic integration approaches needed in the local church for effective ministry and missions.

6. Leadership Development in Asian Missions

Effective and spiritual leadership is a great need both in the world and in the church. How can we raise up Asian indigenous spiritual leaders for the harvest? How can leadership succession be planned and implemented in Asian missions? This Specialist Seminar explores the challenges of developing servant leadership in our Asian contexts.

7. Asia Missiology and Trends

What are the trends, issues and thinking in Asian missions today? How can Asians be effectively involved in the development of indigenous church movements? In this Specialist Seminar, participants will reflect on contemporary Asian missions and missiology for today’s Asian church. We will understand how Singaporeans can be effective in cross-cultural missions.

8. Care of Singaporean Missionaries

Serving cross-culturally exposes missionaries to many challenges throughout their respective journeys. This Specialist Seminar seeks to address issues and needs that impact Singapore missionaries in various contexts and how we can provide better member care. Areas covered will include screening and selection, pre-field orientation, transitions, crisis and contingency, MK education, re-entry and debriefing.

9. Money and Missions : Stewardship and Partnership

As missions is no longer the “white man’s burden”, financing missions is a big challenge with Asian churches partnering with churches in poorer countries. This Specialist Seminar explores partnership as a biblical concept and seeks to uncover valid models and principles that will avoid the dependency trap and empower the indigenous churches or missions.

10. Beyond Short-Term Missions (Missionary Tourism?)

God desires transformation in every arena of the society in every nation. This Specialist Seminar will focus on how you can be effective in your short term endeavours with long term impact.

This Specialist Seminar will cover topics ranging from Risk assessments to Risk management, Effects of Crisis, Building The Crisis Management Team and Immediate Response Checklist.
