Generation NeXt: Youths, Media and Missions

In order to reach this generation of media-savvy, post moderns, new and innovative methods are often needed to effectively connect and communicate the gospel to them. Find out how to use some of today's common mediums of communication as 'tools' and strategies to better connect with our changing generation. Discover also how we can challenge our youth to utilize their familiarity with media technology for missions and prepare them for ministry in their generation.

This interactive session will include a 'hands-on' time on how to use short-films to generate spiritual conversations with our friends. It will also introduce various strategies and ideas to leverage on the internet and other creative media for outreach.

Asian believers are torn between missionary call away from home, especially with aged parents and family obligations. How do we reconcile the tension between God’s call to leave home and staying home because of perceived cultural barriers? How do we support Christians with sense of call to obey sacrificially?

This interactive seminar will highlight challenges and provide possible solutions for those involved in presenting the Gospel in a cross-cultural situation. Micro Enterprise Development in Missions

The Kingdom of God is to touch every aspect of life. Micro enterprise development is a Kingdom way that poor and disadvantaged communities can be blessed and empowered. This more unconventional means of mission is becoming fare more relevant as communities find themselves without the life tools to be able to get ahead economically and breakout of poverty cycles. MED is not about “handing out fish” so to speak, but about empowering and training communities to start to “fish for themselves”.

What are the keys to effective cross-cultural evangelism? What are the problems we may encounter? What are the best bridges to use in communicating biblical truth? What kinds of words we should use or avoid? What are the most appropriate media? What are the particular problems that may arise in discipling someone from another culture? Spiritual Warfare on the field is both a very practical thing of lifestyle as well as learning to be vigilant, alert and responsive to unseen schemes in the heavenly realm. Secular authorities often shape how Christians see the world around them. This workshop aims to relook how Singapore Christians should see their neighbours in light of biblical truths, that they may be more faithful witnesses in transnational and cross-cultural missions.

Forging Fruitful families in the field

This will take a forum style with at least 3 sets of experienced missionary parents representing various fields, participating. Issues, needs and challenges of raising children in a cross-cultural environment will be covered. Helpful and practical ideas of how to prepare families as well as how to provide MK care while they are on the field and on re-entry. Time for Q & A will be intentionally slotted into the session to address burning issues participants may have.

Maintaining Emotional Health in Cross-Cultural Ministry

Good emotional health is essential to effective Cross-Cultural Ministry. Why does it come under pressure on the field?
What can be done about this? Where should this be addressed - before going to the field? On the field? On return from the field?
This session will examine some of the reasons why emotional health comes under pressure on the field. It will then go onto address ways of promoting psychological resilience and maintaining emotional health in Cross-Cultural ministry.

Managing & Resolving Cross-Cultural Conflicts

This new entity will grow and mature and assume responsibility for reproducing itself.
