GoForth is a call to the Church
of the Lord Jesus Christ in Singapore to bring
glory to God by completing the work that He has
given us to do- fulfilling of the Great Commission.
GoForth does not belong to one particular denomination
or agency. It belongs to everyone who loves God.
Our sole agenda will always be mobilization of
churches in Singapore for missions.
GoForth seeks to partner the church in the gathering,
mobilising,sending and supporting of missionary
activities in Asia.
It was back in January 2001 during one of the
regular 'Breakfast Meetings' for pastors and missions
leaders hosted by the Singapore Centre for Evangelism
and Missions (SCEM) that Kenneth Kok, then director
of Wycliffe Bible Translators (Singapore) suggested
that Singapore could organise its own "Urbana'
(A nationawide Missions Conference organised by
American believers).
The 20-plus missions agency leaders and pastors
present instantly agreed. A task force of about
15-18 leaders was formed which met the following
week to hammer out initial plans. The group decided
to invite the Diocese of Singapore, the Methodist
Church and Victory Family Centre to participate.
The confirmation and support of these three major
partners came in September 2001. With only 11 months
of preparation, Go Forth 2002 was launched from
7-10 August 2002 at Suntec City. It attracted over
3,000 participants and was a major milestone in
missions mobilisation for Singapore"
By the grace of God, Go Forth 2008 become the
third national missions conference since its inception
in 2002. Our theme for this conference is “God’s
Glory in the East: Our Asian Missions Challenge.”
Missions 1-2-3
Saying to “yes” to God's call to missions
is easier said than done – especially for
those doing it for the first time or for the smaller
congregations. With the experience of 2003 and
2005, Go Forth 2008 has matured into a truly made-for-Singapore
National Mission Conference. Everyone, from rank
beginners to seasoned veterans of the Asian mission
field will find their needs met.
Beginners will benefit from a wide-angled glimpse
of what the Singapore Mission to Asia entails.
The plenary sessions give a broad stroke while
the workshops and panel discussions fill in the
details. Congregation members will be able to talk
to seasoned missions practitioners, and check out
the exhilirating Outreach Program (offered for
the first time in 2008) offering gateway placement
for 15 nations and 600 locations. The specialists
workshops on the first day allow pastors of the
Singapore churches and missionaries, as well as
businessmen and professionals to dialogue and explore
the Asian mission fields in detail.
The challenge to the pastors, churches and congregations
of Singapore begins with the call to be a part
of The Go Forth National Missions Conference 2008.
You can sign up as a conference participant, pledge
financial or resources, or perhaps one of the 1,000
prayer partners.
GoForth Singapore – Take your first steps
and take a fresh look at missions and not rest
until God’s glory is revealed across Asia.
